Hal Owen, president

Hal has amassed more than 25 years of experience as a soil scientist working on various soil survey projects in NC and VA. He has worked as a soil scientist for a local health department and for various environmental consulting firms conducting wetland investigations and managing a program for land application of residuals. In 1991 he decided to start his own business, and has built a reputable company with a qualified staff of professionals. Hal is passionate about the advancement of soil science and his community and has been a member of the Harnett County Planning Board, the Consulting Soil Scientists of the Carolinas (president 2007), the National Society of Consulting Soil Scientists (executive board member 2008), and the Soil Science Society of North Carolina (executive committee 2008). He is also a proponent in the formulation of Standards of Practice (SOP) for Soil Scientists and for Soil Scientist Licensing in other states.

Joining HO&A in 1998, Krissina has helped establish wetland investigations and permitting as a major part of our business. She finds the beauty of nature compensates for the headaches of paperwork, but admits that a satisfied client who gets the permits he needs makes a day in the office worthwhile.

Kathey Jernigan

Kathey brought her many years of accounting experience gained at Swift Denim to HO&A in 2005. She likes the small company atmosphere here, and the myriad managerial roles she performs.
