Title: "Soil Science Standards of Practice." Abstract: The Consulting Soil Scientists of the Carolinas (CSSC) was incorporated in 2004 as a chapter of the National Society of Consulting Soil Scientists (NSCSS).  One of the stated objectives of the CSSC was to increase professionalism amongst consulting soil scientists and to implement Standards of Practice (SOP).  To date, the CSSC has proposed two draft SOPs; one for a preliminary soil and site suitability investigation and one for a comprehensive (lot by lot) evaluation.  This presentation will begin by providing information about the role of consulting soil scientists in today's workplace.  Following will be an explanation of the philosophy behind SOPs and the CSSC’s objectives with the creation of SOPs.  Draft SOPs will be shown with a brief contrast and comparison of the two, and a list of other identified activities for which SOPs are needed will be given.
